Magnetic Phone Holder Safety Tips

Updated: June 18, 2026

A magnetic phone holder can make navigation easier, but it should never make driving more distracting. The safest setup is the one that keeps the screen readable, the road view clear, and the phone steady.

Safe magnetic phone holder setup in a car

Keep visibility clear

Do not place the phone where it blocks the windshield, mirrors, instrument cluster, or direct road view. A lower vent position can help when installed correctly.

Respect airbags and controls

The mount should not sit over an airbag area or block climate controls, hazard lights, shifter movement, or infotainment buttons.

Test before driving

Attach the phone and gently check the magnetic hold while parked. If the phone slides, rotates, or shakes too much, change the case, angle, or mounting point.

Set the route first

Start navigation before moving. A holder should support hands-free driving habits, not encourage constant screen interaction.
